Slump test: position and sequence
The Slump test is performed seated on the edge of the couch with the hands behind the back. The sequence combines trunk flexion, cervical flexion, knee extension and ankle dorsiflexion, while the other leg keeps its seated support.
- Position
- Seated on the edge of the couch
- Starting position
- Sit on the edge of the couch with the thighs supported, the legs hanging free and the hands behind your back. Trunk upright and head neutral.
- End position
- Trunk and cervical spine flexed, the tested knee almost extended and the ankle in dorsiflexion. The other leg keeps the support of the sitting posture.
Sequence
- Trunk flexion
Let the back slump forwards, sinking the chest, without moving the head yet.
- Cervical flexion
Take the chin to the chest and keep it there for the rest of the sequence.
- Knee extension
Slowly straighten the knee of the tested leg, without letting the trunk come back up.
- Ankle dorsiflexion
With the knee straight, take the top of the foot towards the shin.
